Ravens are members of the corvid family of birds, which includes crows, magpies, and Canada jays, among others. They are true "bird brains" and have the highest intelligence of all birds, with perhaps the exception of the parrots.
These little fellows are burrowing owls, and have the most endearing habits and expressions. Their habitat is grasslands and prairies.
This scene is reminiscent of the foothills in Calgary, where I grew up.
