Glenys - Art is magic. Craft becomes Art when ingestion becomes digestion with no thought of technique or theory. Art simply ‘happens’. It is when duende manifests itself in a moment of the unknown. For 40 years I have been privileged with the opportunity to explore art in any direction or to use any material I am drawn to. Whether it be pottery, sculpture, painting, jewelry, writing, or whatever intrigues me, the journey of enquiry and the satisfaction of discovery has given me a life I would exchange for no other. Somehow it is all related and blends together. Depending on my focus at the time I know that my work will continue to evolve as the discovery of the next mystery is unravelled. It is this that keeps life magical for me.
Glenys is presently working towards the Fired Up! Contemporary Works in Clay exhibition and Sale that is held annually in the Metchosin Community Hall, last weekend in May each year.
Dates are May 27, 28 and 29th 2011
Title: AXIS OF ART
Basil - I take great pleasure in hand crafting these tables from storm damaged salvaged Western Canadian Maple. The beautiful color, unique markings along with the form and shape of the raw timber are left as natural as possible. This allows the finished work to retain the original source of the material.
