In the realm of the earth’s vast landscapes, Steven Friedman has traveled the world to bring us these images of majestic vistas and deep autumnal forests. He is a determined and patient artist and will return for days on end to the same tree, finally capturing just the right angle, the right light at the right moment. No manipulation, just clear vision and focus from the vantage point of his panoramic camera lens. Like the power of meditation, Steven’s images present the observer with a path and a touchstone: a counterpoint to the vast inner landscape where we can reflect more deeply. As we step into one of Steven’s photographs, we know we will be changed. It is a tribute to his great talent that he recently won First and Second Prizes in the International Photography Awards (The Lucie Awards), category Professional Nature. As well, Steven recently won a Third Prize in the prestigious Prix de la Photographie Paris competition, in addition to four Honorable Mentions in the Pro Nature category.
