The Rufus Lin Gallery of Japanese Art is a fine art museum established by Rufus Lin. The gallery aims to introduce to North Americans some of the most talented artists presently working in Japan, who are generally unknown outside Japan. This includes both professionals and amateur artists.
All work is selected by a jury, based on a set of stringent criteria. Most of the collection consists of paintings based on Japanese themes and motifs. Our gallery refreshingly counteracts the ubiquity of popular Japanese culture and demonstrates that contemporary Japanese culture goes far deeper than manga and anime.
The gallery’s proximity to Vancouver International Airport makes it possible for visitors from all over the world to view the work of many contemporary painters from across Japan at a single location. Unlike commercial galleries, which are really retail stores selling art, the Rufus Lin Gallery is an art museum that displays fine art, and there are no price tags on the paintings. Admission is free.
