ABOUT THE ARTIST
Elaine Watts lives in British Columbia and holds dual citizenship in her country of birth as well as Australia, her annual December to April retreat.
She is an artistically accurate professional recognized for mastery in combining technical execution with emotional content. Watts masters light and shadows with an aptitude for reflections; be that on water or bounced back brilliance. Her skills not only reveal excellence of colour choices, to echo natureâs pristine beauty, they also reveal the training required for such expertise allowing her to perform with the most difficult art medium â watercolour pigments. Her early inspiration was sourced from viewing the collections of French Impressionists, particularly MONET and DEGAS. Wattsâ work has since developed into her own unique style, which she refers to as Magical Impressionistic. Viewing Wattsâ art often induces one to feel relaxed and on the edge of entering a dreamlike state, becoming emotionally lost in the painting.
Collectors of her artwork choose FLORAL, STILL LIFE and INTERIOR pieces, however Watts has a special love for LANDSCAPES especially if she can incorporate playful fantasy â you may find something whimsical hidden in your painting. Special pieces of her work now combine the mastery of watercolour along with the punctuation provided by the use of ink.
Exhibitions of her work have occurred throughout British Columbia as well as MELBOURNE and SYDNEY, Australia. She is the recipient of awards such as; THE PORT MOODY ART CENTREâS PEOPLES TOP VOTE and âBelcarra Bronzeâ was used for DOMAINE DE CHABERTON Wineryâs marketing of an elegant white wine. Private collections that display her paintings are in NORTH AMERICA, AUSTRALIA, and EUROPE.
