I grew up on the small island of Fyn in Denmark. Surrounded by orchards and the sea, nature became an integral part of my life and inspiration for my work in clay. I am a self-taught ceramist now residing on Canada’s West Coast after living and working internationally.
I use a combination of coiling and slabbing to create my hand-built pieces. Fascinated by the language and beauty of patterns, I find great inspiration in recreating the recurring and stunning lines of nature in my work. My love and respect for this medium is reflected in a minimalist use of glazes – in most of my work the inherent colour of the clay is exposed and accentuated at times by delicate oxides.
The Artfarm is home to Margit’s gallery and studio. Situated in the beautiful Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island, the Artfarm offers a lovely breathing space and a beautiful setting for Margit’s organic, hand-built ceramic pieces.
We look forward to your visit next time you are in the Cowichan Valley.
