I am a painter working in oils using traditional methods,in an expressionist/realist style. My work ranges in size from 3x3 " to 5x7'
My subject matter is inspired by family history, personal experience, domestic routine, objects and place.
My work is often narrative, exploring a connection between past and present, observation, memory and imagination.I am an insatiable reader and fiction, often inspires my work indirectly. I would like to think of myself as creating "visual novels" !

My current paintings deal with clothing. On my website:
AntoinetteHerivel.ca you can access my blog in which I write about the vintage dresses I paint and how I make the paintings
I also love to "play" with ideas and composition through drawing and a variety of collage techniques.
New work features a personal antique recipe collection.
I am new to BC having studied and worked for many years in Saskatchewan. I am originally from the British channel island of Jersey.
Living on an island again has inspired me to explore the colours, shapes and form found in a marine environment, through small experimental collages, artist cards and paintings.
Please contact me if you are interested in my work. My studio is open by arrangement.
