Kobita Sen, Visual Artist
My work is about draughtmanship and the act of drawing itself, I work intuitively in response to what my eye sees without judgement of prior knowledge. The whole is worked and the image appears out of the mass.
Through this process I uncover the image to find the invisible pattern and rhythm that gives it an intrinsic harmony. The figure and the landscape are doorways to this understanding.
Whether in two or three-dimensional mediums, I strive to create a visual language that itself is constantly being redefined through the process of working. The fruit of this endeavor for me is the pleasure of sensuous painting and the force that lies in being open and responsive to the present moment in all its urgency.
The purpose of my work is to create art as a conscious, parallel, sensory experience. One that is intimate to the perceiver and the universal in its imagery.
